Witness the Wonder of Sea Turtle Hatchings on Eagle Beach Stay at MVC Eagle Beach for a Front-Row Seat to Nature's Most Magical Moment

A front-row seat to a beachfront miracle Imagine waking up to the soft sound of waves and walking across the street to find tiny sea turtles making their way to the ocean for the very first time. From May through November, Eagle Beach becomes a sanctuary for endangered sea turtles, and MVC Eagle Beach offers you a unique opportunity to witness this awe-inspiring event up close.

The Hatchings: A Rare and Remarkable Sight This June, we were thrilled to witness the hatching of leatherback turtles, some of the largest sea turtles in the world, on the sands of Eagle Beach. Adult leatherbacks, which can weigh up to 1,500 pounds, return to this exact stretch of sand to nest, just as they were born here decades ago. Each female lays around 100 eggs per nest and visits up to 8 times in a single season.

As the sun rises or sets, you may catch a glimpse of hatchlings emerging and scrambling toward the waves. It is truly an unforgettable moment. The best times for turtle watching are early morning or dusk, when temperatures are cooler and the beach is quieter.

Responsible Turtle Watching: How You Can Help At MVC Eagle Beach, we are proud to share our shores with these incredible creatures. During your stay, here is how you can support their journey:

Do:

  • Watch quietly from at least 10 feet away

  • Keep voices low and movements gentle

  • Let hatchlings crawl on their own. It builds their strength for the ocean ahead

Don't:

  • Touch or pick up hatchlings, even if they seem lost

  • Use flash photography or bright lights

  • Leave toys, chairs, or towels near marked nests

  • Make loud noises or sudden movements
